Prunus

;

The prunus is a tree which blossoms in winter which is a source of inspiration for Chinese or Japanese poets and calligraphers. Its long stringy hair-like stems connecting the flowers resemble stars constellations. Its flowers are extremely delicate, reflecting the delicacy of the breath of the winter move, short, slow and pure. The flower is traditionally represented in odd numbers. the ideal setting for the petals is the number five, symbolizing the thinking man. Prunus are often reprenseted by night, lit by moonlight, symbol of hidden, to be discovered feminity. The trunc is sometimes used to bring an idea of spring and give a touch of yang in the winter yin which annonces the return of spring. Paintings representing trees or prunus are placed where the energy is considered to be too motionless.
